Random Musings: Font of Rhand Misadventures!

Just outside the Font of Rhand

Greetings everyone!

Last evening saw me in the Diessa Plateau, finishing up the last of the objectives for 100% map completion. After a few hours of running around, it came down to one vista and one waypoint left and having absolutely no idea where or even how to get to them.  As luck would have it however, Fyrskar and Najat happened upon the meta-event known as the Flame Legion Battles and followed it through the few different phases until a crazy flame portal opened up out near the Incendio Templum. Without a clue as to where it led, we followed the crowd through into what appeared to be the remains of a temple. Inside we were met with many puzzles and traps, but we could see the vista and the waypoint on our maps finally.

We followed everyone through, spending a tiresome amount of time trying to get random strangers to work together to solve the puzzles. Every time we progressed, we took comfort in knowing we were just that much closer to map completion! We finally ended up at the end of the line, there was nothing left between us and total map glory, aside from a Flame Legion Charr boss. We were almost there! It was a long fight, but we managed to defeat him with everyone working together only for him to explode into ten or so different chests that could be looted for treasure. Great, we didn’t know that was going to happen and our bags were already so full! After collecting what we could, we looked around and wondered where our vista and waypoint could be!

How frustrating it was to see the waypoint and the vista and still not be any where closer to it! After packing our inventory until it was ready to burst, we decided after a few hours to call it and leave the Font of Rhand behind us. We made our way back through the traps and baddies to the entrance we had come in from, thinking it would deposit us back at the Incendio Templum. Instead, we were deposited at the forgotten entrance to the ruined temple itself where our waypoint and vista waited for us. All that time, it was just a step back outside!

While all I wanted was my vista and waypoint, I really did appreciate this mini dungeon that was created. I haven’t had the chance to step inside any of the notable dungeons offered in the game as of yet, but this was a nice surprise and was even a lot of fun even when people refused to work together sometimes. I can’t say if there are more things like this scattered about the world, but I sure hope so.  Have you been to the Font yet and did you enjoy it? Perhaps you found it the same way we did? I hope this might help any of you that are looking for the last waypoint and vista and if you are like me, have no clue where it might be.

See you in-game soon, maybe even for some more Font misadventures and happy hunting!
